Venue Spotlight
Oyster Bay Yacht Club
As one of the region’s newest wedding venues, Oyster Bay Yacht Club is the perfect synthesis of natural surroundings and contemporary design. For the bride and groom looking for a unique outdoor venue that embodies what makes our coast exceptional, Oyster Bay Yacht Club is the place. Nestled in a beautiful oak hammock overlooking a stunning saltwater marsh, the clubhouse made its debut in July 2008, and, with its
full-service event coordination, professional staff, and excellent amenities, it is quickly proving itself to be a premier wedding venue.

The yacht club reflects the sensibility of quintessential old Florida architecture, with its tabby and wood construction and tin roof. Yet it also has a modern edge, with its clean look and luxurious appointments. While the building boasts 7,500 square feet of indoor/outdoor area, the layout of the club creates an atmosphere of intimacy that nevertheless allows for up to 150 guests.

“It is not the typical wedding venue,” explains club manager Tawni Fitzpatrick. “It is very comfortable, yet sophisticated. It is not a banquet hall; in fact, it is the antithesis of a banquet hall. It is more like a gracious home.”

With heart pine floors, French paned windows, and wrought iron chandeliers, the Oyster Bay Yacht Club is classic in its décor. The indoor space includes one medium-sized room filled with natural light streaming in through the French paned windows that overlook the oak hammock and marsh. The stateroom, complete with a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows, offers an expansive view of the pool, harbor, and marsh and provides a gorgeous backdrop for dining and dancing.

The outdoor venue space includes a gorgeous deck and pool overlooking the convergence of Soap Creek and Lanceford Creek. Roseate Spoonbills with their vibrant pink plumage scuttle about the reeds, as dolphins and otters frolic in the brackish water. There is over 2,500 square feet of covered deck space, perfect for an outdoor ceremony, regardless of the weather. A large outdoor fireplace provides a romantic touch to any event, with cozy couches and teak chairs and tables set throughout the deck area, as well as a full bar. There is also a private waterside deck, tucked within a backdrop of live oaks dripping with moss, a perfect spot for exchanging vows and taking pictures as the boats drift by. “There are so many options for wedding guests to enjoy themselves,” says Fitzpatrick. “Tucked away on a couch deep in conversation, or celebrating on the dance floor, the venue really lends itself to anything.”

Michelle Sharpe, owner of My Personal Chef, Inc. and Executive Chef of the Oyster Bay Yacht Club, is the exclusive caterer for weddings. Chef Sharpe, a true professional noted for the exceptional quality of her cuisine, works closely with the bride and groom to provide the perfect dining experience. An in-house caterer who knows the ins and outs of the venue allows for a simple, stress-free dining solution.

When it comes to spectacular wedding venues, settings like this are few and far between. Oyster Bay Yacht Club can accommodate for both sun and rain, provide places for both intimate conversations and group celebrations, and is set within one of the most magical coastal landscapes anywhere. All of the above is blended with exquisite taste and
Southern grace, providing all you need to make your wedding day extraordinary.
